PARENTS & ALUMNI TO COMPLIMENT STAFF

New program will showcase guest instructors

Have you always dreamed of being a camp counselor but never had the time?. Do you enjoy teaching and coaching children, and working with young adults? Have you ever wanted to get away to the mountains, and stay in a rustic cabin along a lake? Are you longing to come back to camp?

  Well, here’s your chance!

Pok-O-MacCready is seeking parents of campers, as well as all alumni, who are interested in instructing a clinic in any field of specialized interest. “We are open to anything and everything,” announced program director Tim Singer. “If you have a skill and want to share it, give us a call!”

The parent / alumni program is actually the revival of a project created by camp owner Jack Swan during the 1980’s. Over the course of several summers, more than a dozen alumni, as well as parents of campers arrived to teach clinics in golf, weaving, lacrosse, tennis, dressage, sculpting, rocket building, basketball, painting, farming and rock climbing. “It was tremendous,” said Swan. “It was great for our overall program, it infused a lot of energy into camp and the instructors proved to be a great help to our staff. And the kids loved the clinics!”

The plan for 2006 is to work clinics into the everyday program. “We are not bound by limitations,” stated Singer. “Flexibility is key. If someone wants to come up for a weekday afternoon in July, or a long weekend in August, we will try and accommodate.”

Meals and lodging will be provided although no one is obligated to stay at camp, and should you choose to overnight at a nearby Inn or Bed & Breakfast, we can give you some suggestions.

If you are interested in coming to camp to teach a clinic, please contact Dana Beck and alert her as to when you can make it, what you can teach and any other questions you may have about the program.
