101st SEASON OFFICIALLY UNDER WAY “Welcome to the greatest camp in the Universe!” So shouted out Camp Pok-O-Moonshine Headmaster Erik Zimmerman as he kicked off the summer during dinner announcements at the dining hall. He was greeted with a thunderous ovation. Pok-O-MacCready Camps entered its second century today under sunny skies and amidst excited campers and anxious parents. Meantime here in Willsboro, campers were arriving by car. Duffel bags, sports equipment and hiking and riding gear were unloaded and within minutes, the kids were playing games in their sections. “It’s been good so far,” stated first year camper Matt Hepworth, a Pok-O Intermediate. “I thought the lake would be cold, but it’s nice and warm.” Activities for day #1 included nurse checks, swimming tests, section games and the weekly all-camp Sunday service. The campers look forward to a hectic day Monday, highlighted by the annual Activity Fair, where they visit all the instructional class areas before signing up for the summer activity choices. MacCready C.I.T. Ariel Millhauser, starting her eighth summer at camp, puts it all into perspective: “It’s great to be here! I’ve seen old friends, I’ve met new friends, I get away from my parents and there’s never a boring moment at camp!”
