KANTOR and CANTER

Tennis Champion and Equestrian Competition

Tennislogo                   KANTOR ROLLS TO TITLE

In a display of tennis domination reminiscent of the days of Steffi and Martina, Camp MacCready’s Lindsay Kantor completed her run to the ladies championship at the Pok-O Open.

Without losing a single set, or even a game in the tournament, top-seeded Kantor topped #3 Rachel Bergman in Saturday afternoon’s final. “It wasn’t hard to maintain my focus (despite the lack of competition); I just concentrated on my game.”  Kantor becomes the first back-to-back winner in the ladies bracket.

On the men’s side, #1 seed Varun Anand has advanced to the semifinals.  “I’m playing pretty well.  I’m a bit worried about the competition, but I’m focused.”  The gentlemen’s final is expected to be played Tuesday.

BIG MacCREADY #2

Under a bright blue sky, 47 riders and 16 horses took part in the 39tribbonblueh Big MacCready Horse Show parentswatchSunday at Camp MacCready.  The hunter and jumper divisions were well contested and the riders- both campers and guests- performed in front of a large gathering of spectators.

Classes were held catering to all skill levels, from walk, to walk-trot-canter, to difficult rails on the jump course. The event culminated with the always humorous counselor ride.

The day doubled as an informal visiting day for parents of session #2 campers (above left). Pok-O-MacCready riders garnered four Champion ribbons, seven Reserve ribbons, plus an additional 17 blue ribbons for first place finishes.  (Full results and more photos coming in tomorrow’s Pok-O-Mac Times)

PIRATE PIZZA PALOOZA

What was once two separate events-  The Pok-O Palooza and The Pirate Party - were fused in 2005, with the result being the same: Lots of music; lots of food; lots of fun.  The event, held last night at the boat docks, featured a wedding chapel, tattoo parlor, face painting, raft rides, dancing, limbo and pizza for all, to name just some of the fun.
