TAKE ME OUT TO THE BALL GAME

Campers enjoy American Pastime

americana

It has become an annual tradition: each summer, Senior section head Josh Bornt brings his kids to the Vermont Expos game in Burlington.  This year, the section was joined by several campers from Intermediate, as well as selected staff, including Headmasters Erik Zimmerman and Chris Durlacher, and nurse Kathy Gigantiello (below left).

“The kids look forward to this and so do I,” said Bornt.  “I made the reservations back in April.”

Camper David Bell of Bristol, England was experiencing baseball for the first time:  “It was an awesome atmosphere!  Much better than soccer.”

The Expos, a Class-A affiliate of the Washington Nationals, won the game 8-3.

POETIC ART

For the second session of camp, photography class was changed to digital photography. While keeping up with the changing technological times, the campers are still maintaining a traditional artistic style in their work.

Instructor Meaghan Swan recently assigned her students the task of finding a natural object to photograph and accompany with a poem relevant to both the image, and their camp experience. Two examples appear below.

QUEST FOR THE FORTY-SIX:  As today’s issue goes to press (or upload), a day hike to Mt. Marshall is on the trail. Should the campers and two staff members make it to the top, Pok-O-MacCraedy will have successfully climbed all 46 high peaks in the Adirondacks during the camp season. Look for news in tomorrow’s edition of the Pok-O-Mac Times.
