KATHY GIGANTIELLO – Health Director &  Boys’ Camp Nurse
First Year at Camp: 1976
Profession: Registered Professional Nurse

After a 26-year absence from Pok-O-MacCready, Kathy returned to camp in 2004 as the boys’ camp nurse.  Nurse Kathy is now also the camp Health Director, and her mealtime health talks are popular with campers and counselors alike. At home in New Jersey with her husband Joe she balances four kids, three cats, and a dog while working full-time and going to school.

Profession : Registered Professional Nurse

Christa heard about Pok-O-MacCready through Health Director Kathy Gigantiello, and is looking forward to her second summer as a camp nurse. She has three children, two of whom will be joining her this summer as campers.

Camp welcomes Kate to her first summer at Pok-O, where she will assist in both the boys and camp health centers during the first four weeks. 

CARRIE HOWARD CANNING – Session #2 Roving Camp Nurse
First Year at Camp: 1995
Profession: Nurse Administration

Carrie returns to camp following a 13-year layoff; she served as the Camp MacCready nurse during the 1990’s.  She is employed at Champlain Valley Physician’s Hospital in nearby Plattsburgh, and recently gave birth to her third child.  Carrie, and ADK 46er lives in Saranac, NY with her husband, former section head Drew Canning.

MIKE GAST - Head Cook
First Year at Camp: 1992
Profession: Chef

Mike first came to camp in the early 1990s along with his wife, former Riding Director, Mary.  Working first as a kitchen assistant, Mike advanced to Head Chef, a role in which he now serves year-round for camp.  Mike is especially popular for his frequent announcements at meals, including the “Rule of the Day.”

SHAI WALKER - Head of MaintenanceShai Walker

University: Syracuse
Profession: Carpenter, EMT

Shai has been at camp for nearly his entire life.  2009 will be his first as full time maintenance, following 7 years as the head of the waterfront.  In addition to his prescribed duties, Shai, 46er #3914, also serves as the DJ at camp dances, co-produces the camp slide shows, and can fix anything from computers to plumbing to a broken arm.  During the off-season he  volunteers for the Willsboro Fire/Ambulance Squad as an EMT

JILLIAN DEBUSK - Website ManagerJill
First Year at Camp: 2003
Profession: Education

Jillian has worked as a counselor, section head and full time staff member of the Outdoor Education Center.  In 2008, she became the summer camp webmaster, providing daily written and photographic accounts of the many happenings.  During the off-season, Jill is a teacher outside of Boston.

Profession: World Traveler

Erin returns to the office following a five year break spent getting her college degree in New Zealand.  She served as the administrative assistant during the summers of 2002 and 2003 and also worked year round for the outdoor education center.

MEAGHAN SWAN - Adminstrative AssistantMeaghan Swan
First Year at Camp: 1987

The daughter of Director Sharp Swan and great-great-granddaughter of camp’s founder Dr. Charles A. Robinson, Meaghan is will be specializing in administration, as well as photographic duties.  She exercises her incredible artistic talents at SUNY–Oneonta where she is a Resident Advisor.  She is 46er #4457.

First Year at Camp : 1992

Another fifth generation descendant of the Robinson-Swan family, Christopher has been a camper, counselor and off-season assistant.  In 2009, he will work at the homestead, teach blacksmithing.  Chris will also share with campers his expertise on his greatest passion:  fishing.  He is a student at the University of Connecticut.

COLE STARKEY - MaintenanceCOLE
First Year at Camp: 2009

Avid runner and veteran of camp’s Patch Sprint and 46-in-a-Day, Cole will spend his first summer at camp in 2009.  The recent graduate of Cheyney College spent the spring of 2008 riding his bicycle solo across the United States.
