2008 Section Heads
MEAGHAN SWAN - Section Head, Junior Lodge First Year at Camp
: 1987
The daughter of Director Sharp Swan and great-great-granddaughter of camp’s founder Dr. Charles A.
Robinson, Meaghan is back for another summer with the youngest campers at MacCready. She exercises her incredible artistic talents at SUNY–Oneonta where she is a Resident Advisor. She is 46er #4457.
WILL POLE - Section Head, Pioneer First Year at Camp:
2007
Hailing from New Jersey and attending McGill Universtiy in Montreal, Will’s incredible enthusiasm was
immediately apparent when he made his debut at camp in 2007. His creativity and patience will be excellent assets in Pioneer section this summer.
LEAH CROHN – Section Head, Intermediate Girls First Year at Camp: 1995
Going into her fifth summer on staff, Leah will be taking charge of Intermediate Girls’ section in 2008.
Her perkiness and multitude of talents, from riding to baseball to sailing, make her a great addition to Camp MacCready. Leah attends William Hobart-Smith College and can often be seen with flocks of
children around her.
SCOTT McINTYRE – Section Head, Intermediate Boys
First Year at Camp: 1983
“Scotty Mac” will be celebrating 25 years associated with Pok-O-MacCready this summer, and what
better way to celebrate than to work here? He returned as a counselor in 2004, was instrumental in the creation of the Viewbook marketing materials, and will remain after the summer to assume a year
-round position in the administrative office. An old hand at Intermediate Section Head, Scott returns in 2008 to show us how it’s done.
KAYE ROBINSON - Section Head, Senior Girls
First Year at Camp: 2007
Kaye came to camp through the Disney family last summer, and the rest is history! Her exuberance is
contagious, and Senior Girls section will thrive under her lead in 2008. Kaye will be instrumental in our sports and hiking programs.
STEVE COUGHLIN - Section Head, Senior Boys 
First Year at Camp: 1997
Steve is back for his fifth summer on staff, and is looking forward to vying for the Coupe Colonel Cup as
Senior Section Head. Steve’s contributions to camp are many and varied, and include writing poetry for Vespers and teaching hockey as our resident Canadian expert. Steve attends McGill University and
is the proud bearer of a new driver’s license!
JULIA BACKUS - Section Head, Highlander First Year at Camp: 2006
Back for her third summer at Pok-O, Julia’s talents range from the creative to the athletic and she can
be found teaching classes from arts & crafts to volleyball. A resident advisor at SUNY-Oneonta, Julia can be found in the company of fellow staff members Meaghan Swan and Rebecca Ryba year-round.
BRIANNA LIVSEY – Section Head, CIT First Year at Camp: 1993
Daughter of long-time MacCready Director Melissa Livsey, 2008 is Brianna’s fourth summer on staff. In 2005 she introduced a Dance class that proved immensely popular, with rave reviews of their
halftime show at the Big MacCready Horse Show. Originally from Austin, TX, Brianna now attends UC-Berkeley. She is 46er #4797.
CALEB BALDERSTON - Section Head, Advanced Section
First Year at Camp: 1998
A member of the Williams College Ultimate team, Caleb returns for a third summer to coach our
Ultimate team in preparation for the intense mid-summer match against our rival camp! He is also a skilled hiker as 46er #4834 and will lead the ADV boys on many wilderness trips in 2008. Once a
winning Cayuga chief, Caleb is a now a very dedicated guiding light, as evidenced by his costumes during Indian Days. .

MOLLY BABCOCK
First Year at Camp: 1998
From nearby Lake Placid, Molly will be joining the staff for the first time in 2008. A veteran of our
horseback riding program, she will now be a Riding Instructor and share her lve of horses with our campers. Molly also enjoys crew and will be attending Cornell University in the fall.
LIANA BLUM First Year at Camp:
Liana took a year off from camp after completing our CIT program in 2006, and now returns as a member of the riding staff. She will be joined by camp by her brother and sister, both campers.
DAVID BALDERSTON
First Year at Camp: 1998
“Davey B” returns to camp in 2008 to put his considerable athleticism to work! He will join brother
Caleb on staff and will be found teaching basketball, baseball, and ultimate frisbee. David will be attending Franklin & Marshall College in the fall.
LAUREN BRENNAN
First Year at Camp: 2008
A native of Latham, NY, Lauren is a recent graduate of Green Mountain College in Vermont with a
degree in Sociology/Anthropology. She enjoys spending time outdoors hiking, swimming, and kayaking, and is looking forward to spending time in the Adirondack High Peaks this summer.
ALEXANDRE CABARET
First Year at Camp: 2005
Alex will be joining the 2008 staff from Paris, France. As an Associate Counselor last summer, Alex was especially
excited about mountain biking and playing in the Big Games. He brings a touch of Parisian culture and style to our corner of the Adirondacks.
ALEX COMEAU
First Year at Camp: 1995
Alex is returning to take his place on staff once again, this time after completing his freshman year at St
. Lawrence University in Canton, NY. A native of the North Country and part of the Comeau legacy (father, two uncles, and sister), Alex will be found teaching guitar, wrangling with Pioneers, and
cheering on the Tuscarora.
JACKSON CONNORS-KELLGREN First Year at Camp:
Jack joins the camp staff for the first time in 2008 as part of our Associate Counselor program. He will
be found helping out on the volleyball courts, in the pottery studio, and at the rock climbing tower. Jack finished his 46 High Peaks in July of 2007 on Sawteeth with longtime camp friend Lex Artuso.
ANTONIO deLEYVA First Year at Camp:
2002
Antonio will be traveling all the way from Spain to join the staff this summer! He went through our AC
program in 2005 and was a counselor in 2006, and we are glad to have him back. Antonio is studying Biology at Universidad Autonoma de Madrid and has his black belt in Judo. He also enjoys singing and
killer whales.
BESSIE EDWARDS
First Year at Camp: 1996
Bessie returns to the camp staff after taking a year off in 2007. She has been a camper, counselor and
section head, and will be helping out with our annual Drama production as well as with the horses this summer. Bessie is a recent graduate from Siena College with a degree is Psychology and a Theater
Certificate. She will beginning an internship with the Charleston Stage Company in the fall.
MIKE ENGLISH First Year at Camp:
2003
Mike was a valuable member of the Associate Counselor program in 2007, and will join us again as a
counselor this summer. A native of Oberlin, OH, Mike can be found in the pottery studio, teaching music, or masquerading as Harry Potter. A recent 46er, Mike has also helped out at Pok-O’s annual
Ski Week at Whiteface Mountain.
CLAUDIA FISHER First Year at Camp:
A long-time campers, Claudia returns to camp after a brief hiatus to join the MacCready staff. She will
be spending some time on the courts this summer teaching tennis, and will be attending Vanderbilt University in the fall.
BROOKS FORTUNE First Year at Camp: 2008
Brooks is from Western New York, goes to school at Colorado College, and comes to camp through friend Alex
Comeau. He enjoys tennis, guitar, and basketball.
BRITTE GINTY First Year at Camp: 2008
Britte is studying kinesiology and psychology at California Polytechnic State University - San Luis
Obispo, and comes to camp through friend Kaye Robinson. An outdoorsy and athletic person, Britte enjoys running on the beach, wakeboarding, and kickboxing. She will be involved in our wilderness and
sports programs here at camp.
MARK HARRISON First Year at Camp: 2006
One of our counselors from across the pond, Mark first came to camp on recommendation from his
older sister and current Riding Director, Cat. He studies economics at the University of Exeter and plays cricket, rugby, and football (that’s soccer in the US) for various teams.
EVAN HAYNES – Counselor First Year at Camp:
1998
Evan returns to camp for his second summer on staff following in the family tradition (brother Grant
and father Byron were also campers and counselors). He attends St. Lawrence University and spent the last few months teaching skiing out west. Evan is 46er #5035 and is valuable throughout camp for
his many talents.
CAITLIN LIVSEY First Year at Camp: 1995
Caitlin joins her mother and sister on the MacCready staff for the second time in 2008. An exceptional
athlete, Caitlin will be helping our campers hone their skills at tennis, swimming, soccer, hiking...you name it! She will be attending Hamilton College in the fall. Caitlin is 46er #5214.
CLAIRE LEVY First Year at Camp:
2000
Claire returns to the MacCready staff for her second summer. She just completed her first year at
Colgate Universtiy. An avid athlete and former Mohawk sachem, Claire will be found teaching sports and leading hikes, among many other things!
JON MCDONALD First Year at Camp:
2001
Jon was part of our prestigious Associate Counselor program in 2007, and joins the staff in 2008 as a
full counselor. He lives in Champlain, NY, and visits camp periodically during the off-season. An enthusiastic basketball coach and cabin counselor, Jon brings his love of Pok-O to everything he does.
BILL REAGAN First Year at Camp: 1999
A fixture at both summer camp and ski week, Billy returns in 2008 for his second summer on staff. He
is an avid snowboarder and just finished his freshman year at St. Lawrence University. A native of Wynnewood, PA, Billy enjoys rock climbing, mountain biking, and hiking.
FRASER REID First Year at Camp:
2005
Fraser hails from Scotland and will be making the trek to Willsboro for the final 3 weeks of camp. A
former Pioneer and Intermediate section head, Fraser is also a lifeguard and is looking forward to the summer days on Long Pond.
ERIC REITHEL First Year at Camp:
2006
Now in his third year as a summer staff member at Pok-O, Eric spent many years as a favorite
counselor at Ski Week each winter. He just completed a NOLS Semester in the Southwest with former camper Matt Potel. Going into his senior year at the University of Minnesota, Eric’s athleticism and
wilderness skills are invaluable here at camp.
HANNAH ROBINSON
First Year at Camp: 2008
Hannah, sister to Kaye Robinson, is a first-time staff member this summer. A student at Wesleyan University in Connecticut, she is an accomplished swimmer and will be found at the waterfront this
summer. Hannah is an aspiring 46er and looking forward to getting out in the high peaks this summer.
MICHAEL RYBA  First Year at Camp:
1993
Part of the Ryba trio working at camp, Mike will be returning to camp for his third summer on staff. He
just completed his freshman year at Middlebury College in Vermont. Renowned for his geographic skills, Mike is 46er #4820.
REBECCA RYBA  First Year at Camp:
1993
Rebecca will be using her vast camp experience to help out in many areas this summer. As the third
MacCready camper ever to become a 46er as a camper (she’s #4536), Rebecca is a seasoned hiker and great all-around athlete. As a former fashion major, she is also extremely artistic. She will be helping
Brianna coordinate our CITs this summer, as well as heading up our inter-camp sports competitions. Rebecca attends SUNY Oneonta and plans on becoming an art teacher.
DIANA TIMKO First Year at Camp: 2000
Diana returns to camp as a counselor after going through our Associate Counselor program in 2007.
The past star of many camp musicals, Diana will be a key player in our drama program in the 3-week session.
NICK WILSON First Year at Camp: 2008
Nick will join the camp staff for his first summer after completing his second year at SUNY Oneonta, where he is a
Resident Advisor. A native of Salem, NY, Nike enjoys fishing, hiking, and sports. He is looking forward to spending time in the High Peaks this summer.
HARRY YERKES First Year at Camp:
2003
Harry was an enthusiastic cast member of various camp plays as a camper, including a memorable
performance as Seymour in Little Shop of Horrors. As a counselor he will continue to be involved with the drama and music programs. Harry will be attending the University of Maine in Orono in the fall,
and is 46er #5837.
KATHRYN YOUNG First Year at Camp:
2008
“Kat” is a recent graduate from SUNY Geneseo, where she studied anthropology and music. A friend of
Senior Section Head Kaye Robinson, Kat’s artistic inclinations include drawing, painting, pottery, and playing the fiddle in a string band. Her appreciation for nature and enthusiasm for camp will make her
a great addition to the staff! Kat will be pursuing her Master’s degree in the fall.
